I'm maryjane (call me mj). a freelance graphic designer based in sydney australia. I've always had a natural flare for design. in the early days (age 4) it was all paint + drawings. later on (age 16) the internet appeared in our house and I taught myself HTML and webdesign. a design dipolma was an obvious path to choose after high school.
I've been freelancing and working in the design industry for over 10 years. print design is my forte these days, although webdesign is still a favourite.

design has always been a huge part of my life. I love art, colour, drawing + typography. I design on my imac, with itunes on shuffle and my iphone by my side «end apple ad here». I'm constantly critiquing design when I'm out + about (it just comes natural to pick up on bad menu designs). I love finding new inspirational sites
and a couple of my faves right now are ffffound and bestwebgallery.
DESIGN BELIEFS
always exceed expectations. enhance simple, stylish designs with plenty of colour. ALWAYS USE GREAT TYPOGRAPHY (bad typography can ruin a job). never use templates,
all of my work is 100% original (bespoke design is best). provide friendly + courteous service. find new design inspiration sources daily. deliver design work yesterday (it's my no. 1 request). spellcheck. get a fresh pair of eyes to check all work before sending to print.
IN A NUTSHELL
I'm happily-married, internet-obsessed (shopping and surfing), multi-tasking, coffee-addicted, gym-goer, sunshine-basker, dream-rememberer, and occassional-winner-of-things. you'll notice I put things in parenthesise (a little too much) and I'm trying to learn portuguese
over at busuu. big fan of both acupuncture + meditation.
DESIGN SKILLS
advanced graphic design diploma (with distinction)
mac + PC • CS5 photoshop/illustrator/indesign/acrobat/dreamweaver
all print design + web design including front end coding (HTML, CSS, flash) and e-marketing
EBOOK AUTHOR
I have collaborated on some ebooks with Peter Deegan. check out some of the titles over here.
WHY MJPIX?
mjpix is a name I came up with back in 1997 when I first registered my domain. the mj part should be obvious, and "pix" is short for "pixels".
