Bondi Beach Bags

BONDI BEACH SEA WALL, SYDNEY NSW – 2018

Beach Bags (2018) features beach-goers relaxing in the sand – but look closely and you'll spot a small bag on a few of the characters’ stomachs. This artwork is designed to spread awareness about ostomies and IBD, using bright colours and happy characters to help reduce stigma.

This piece was a collaboration with Omnigon. After my own colectomy, I wanted to help others the way ostomates around the world had helped me – so during my hospital recovery, I started drawing ostomy artwork and sharing it on Instagram. The response was so positive, I kept going! I love how art helps makes conversations about ostomies and IBD more approachable – and more positive!
